BIOLOGY
KPV is a tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) corresponding to the C-terminal sequence (residues 11-13) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). Despite its small size, KPV retains notable anti-inflammatory activity and is studied for its ability to modulate inflammatory signaling without inducing the pigmentary effects associated with full-length alpha-MSH.
KPV has been investigated in preclinical research models examining intestinal inflammation, NF-kappaB and MAP kinase signaling, and pro-inflammatory cytokine expression. Research indicates KPV can be transported into cells via the PepT1 di/tripeptide transporter, where it modulates intracellular inflammatory pathways. These properties make it a valuable tool for in-vitro and in-vivo inflammation research.
This product is intended solely for in-vitro and preclinical research use and is not for human or veterinary consumption.
KEY RESEARCH APPLICATIONS OF KPV
1. Anti-Inflammatory Signaling
KPV demonstrates significant activity in inflammation studies through:
• NF-kappaB Modulation: Inhibits activation of NF-kappaB inflammatory signaling.
• MAP Kinase Pathways: Studied for downregulation of MAPK inflammatory cascades.
• Cytokine Reduction: Reduces secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines in cell models.

Dalmasso, G. et al. — Gastroenterology. “PepT1-mediated tripeptide KPV uptake reduces intestinal inflammation.” PubMed – PMID: 18061177
2. Intestinal & Mucosal Inflammation
Investigated in gastrointestinal inflammation models through:
• Colitis Models: Examined in DSS- and TNBS-induced experimental colitis.
• Epithelial Cell Response: Studied in intestinal epithelial cell cultures.
• PepT1 Transport: Uptake mediated by the PepT1 di/tripeptide transporter.

3. Melanocortin Pathway Research
Explored in broader inflammation research through:
• Leukocyte Migration: Studied for antimigratory effects in peritonitis models.
• Receptor-Independent Action: Activity studied independent of melanocortin receptors.
• Comparative Peptide Studies: Reference fragment within alpha-MSH research.
