BIOLOGY
IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is an 83-amino-acid synthetic analog of human insulin-like growth factor 1. It differs from native IGF-1 by an arginine substitution at position 3 and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension. These modifications reduce its affinity for IGF-binding proteins and increase its metabolic stability, giving it a substantially longer half-life and greater potency than native IGF-1.
IGF-1 LR3 acts as an agonist of the IGF-1 receptor, activating PI3K/Akt and MAPK/ERK signaling pathways that drive protein synthesis and cell proliferation. It has been used extensively in preclinical and cell-culture research as a potent supplement for serum-free culture systems and as a tool for studying growth-factor signaling, making it valuable for in-vitro and in-vivo experimental design across cell biology and metabolism research.
This product is intended solely for in-vitro and preclinical research use and is not for human or veterinary consumption.
KEY RESEARCH APPLICATIONS OF IGF-1 LR3
1. IGF-1 Receptor Signaling & Cell Proliferation
IGF-1 LR3 demonstrates significant activity in cell biology studies through:
• Receptor Activation: Agonist activity at the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R).
• PI3K/Akt Signaling: Activates pathways driving protein synthesis.
• MAPK/ERK Signaling: Stimulates cell proliferation cascades.

2. Skeletal Muscle & Myogenesis Research
Investigated in muscle and growth research models through:
• Satellite Cell Activity: IGF-1 signaling studied in muscle satellite cells.
• Myogenic Differentiation: Examined for effects on myoblast proliferation.
• Muscle Mass Pathways: Applied in studies of skeletal muscle physiology.

3. Cell-Culture & Metabolic Research
Explored in broader cell biology research through:
• Serum-Free Culture: Used as a potent growth supplement in culture systems.
• Reduced IGFBP Binding: Low binding-protein affinity increases free-ligand activity.
• Glucose & Metabolism: Studied in adipocyte and glucose-uptake models.
